Amanda came up with the idea of the 40/40 after discovering minimal opportunities for younger artists on the Sunny Coast. But she also admits she needed an excuse to meet all the young artists lurking in the hidden Coast sub-culture. Initially, she considered the 30 Under 30, but soon realised she would only have very few years left to participate, so she selfishly decided on the 40 Under 40 instead. In 2020, after a few years of pondering the idea, the 40 Under 40 was born! And after 3 epic parties and exhibitions the rest is history!
We don't need to bark on about how much the 40 under 40 has impacted the Coast arts scene over the years, helping to bolster the careers of many emerging Coast artists whilst nurturing opportunities, collaborations and most importantly creating friendships and community. Let us raise a tinny and say cheers to Amanda’s legacy!
