Megan Robinson
Megan Robinson is a contemporary artist based in Caloundra on Kabi Kabi Country. Drawing from her experiences as a woman and mother, her practice explores the complexities of gender, motherhood, identity, and social constructs through materially and conceptually layered works.Working primarily with industrial waste, Megan draws from traditionally feminine craft and textile processes, such as weaving, while reclaiming materials often linked to masculinity and power. She unpacks the intergenerational transmission of social conditioning and how identities are shaped by societal roles and expectations.Expanding into immersive installation, her work investigates how materiality reveals emotional complexity. Using tactile forms as projection vessels, Megan explores the relationship between material presence, light and shadow, inviting viewers to experience the lingering weight of care, sacrifice, and the strength found in women’s resilience and agency.
