Lewis Thomson

Lewis Thomson is an emerging artist living and working on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. Working primarily in painting and sculpture, his practice explores memory, environment, and the intricacies of the human condition.Raised on the Sunshine Coast, Thomson was immersed in suburban/rural culture. He began building surfboards in high school and continued after graduating in Noosa, developing a strong understanding of craftsmanship, design, and material processes. He later moved to Melbourne to pursue tattooing, where he was inspired by the city’s history, energy, and contemporary culture — experiences that led him to study oil painting and sculpture.Thomson completed a Diploma of Visual Art in 2023 and an Advanced Diploma in Visual Art in 2024, recently returning home to continue developing his practice.
