I am currently in my third year of a Bachelor of Fine Art at Queensland College of Art. My work is an investigation into how my body feels within certain environments that I inhabit. I am especially drawn to recreating and interpreting spaces of quietness and solitude where the presence of my body is heightened to the point where there is a negation of existing boundaries between the self and the landscape. My practice is an attempt to make physical the emotional reality of that space. My paintings are made through layers of loose and intuitively applied shapes and lines that tap into my emotional body. I create places of refuge by segmenting and separating the image through tender, tentative lines and soft drops of colour. These three paintings are a love letter to the quiet, embracing space between my body and the landscape.
