Lauren Jones

Lauren Jones grew up on the Sunshine Coast and began painting in oils during her Visual Art Diploma at the Sunshine Coast Tafe in 2008. Completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at USC in 2009, Lauren then moved to Melbourne to focus on painting, graduating from Monash in 2012 with a Bachelor of Fine Art. Predominantly an oil painter, Lauren’s figurative work explores a sense of place and notions of memory and identity. Inspired from the natural environment and literature, Lauren explores internal and external narratives within her work through the medium of oil paint. Drawn to the materiality of paint, Lauren enjoys exploring the medium’s tangible quality and applies the paint quite broadly, revealing her love for the quality and expressiveness of oils. Lauren paints from her home studio in the Noosa hinterland and has been a part of many group shows from the region. Most recently she has exhibited with the ‘Woman of Art’ exhibition group show 2020 and was the recipient of the ‘Emerging Artist Award’ from CLO Studios.
