With a background in architecture and furniture design, Jill Stevenson is an emerging multi-disciplinary artist from Melbourne, currently on hiatus working and creating back in her hometown, Coolum. Jill’s art practice is grounded in using finely detailed pencil on paper to explore form and movement in space. Ambiguous objects become vessels for exploring boundaries, depth and space on a two-dimensional plane. Further to this, a playful and unconventional approach to framing is applied, utilising hand-made mechanisms in both timber and metal, which become intrinsic to the piece. Jill has previously exhibited works in solo and group exhibitions at Brunswick Street Gallery, and featured in an exhibition in collaboration with Craft Victoria.
