Amanda Bennetts is a Noosa Hinterland based Artist & Curator and is currently embarking on her final year of study, completing a Degree in Fine Arts at the Queensland College of Art in Brisbane. The 40 Under 40 is Amanda’s baby, coming up with the idea after realising there were minimal opportunities for younger artists on the coast. She also needed an excuse to meet all the cool young artists on the coast. Originally she considered the 30 Under 30 but realised at the time she would only have very few years left to participate so decided on the 40 Under 40 instead.
Amanda is an interdisciplinary artist and works across many mediums such as photography, installation, video art, artist books, printmaking, painting and drawing. More recently, Amanda has been exploring projection mapping installations.
Amanda is heavily influenced by the human condition and explores themes such as self, identity and disease through various mediums. Amanda examines phenomena such as degradation, the discarded and the fragile which are inextricably linked to her art-making practice. But it's not all heavy. Amanda often turns to large scale abstract painting to escape the inwardness of self-examination, a creative process of personal freedom and exploration of self-expression.
Above all else Amanda just loves working with other artists, she is incredibly passionate about the arts community!
