The lands natural laws guide my understanding of the world and in attempt to grasp the workings of my mind, I find myself sculpting. The process lies within the ‘eb and flow’ of our conscious state and allows for acceptance over the fluctuations of life. Clay as a medium has so much potential and possibility, yet holds an inescapable relationship with stability, chemistry and the confinements of gravity. Finding balance between the original intention and natural movement of creative flow, is a theme I recognise throughout the last 7 years of my life. Like the nature of clay in the clear, cracking and dry months - we are capable of holding structure and form; encasing secrets of the soil. But when the rainy season comes, the rain flows, clay becomes fluid and disperses across the land, uncontrolled and wild. It then reforms, taking new shape to inhabit an entirely new space.
